The Law of Areas
Johannes Kepler's second law, The Law of Areas, proves that all planets in our solar system travel at different speeds in their orbit depending upon the direction of travel and position within the orbit. As the planet travels closer to the sun, its speed increases. As the planet travels farther away from the sun, its speed decreases. Kepler also believed that there was a force emitting from the sun that swung the planet around it.
